




Dive Itinerary for Raja Ampat and Surrounds
Here is a sample itinerary of ten days cruising and diving in the Raja Ampat area off West Papua New Guinea, Indonesia.
Day 1: Depart Sorong at 1400 and head to Mansuar Island. Jetski and snorkel session at Tanjung Mansuar. Good mooring for overnight. Protection from west, north and eastern sides.
Day 2: Dive at Mansuar Dingding (wall dive) around 1045 after morning jetski. Snorkel and dive in the afternoon with a session for new divers in shallow reef systems between Kri and Mansuar. Early evening stroll through rainforest to visit the lake and village.
Day 3: Return to East Batanta and dive Pula Ayumi. Afterwards travel 3 hours to Pulau Yum. Dive around 1700 on North Reef. Sunset with thousands of fruit bats. Pulau Yum is a perfect anchorage for large vessels with 360 degree protection and deep water, averaging 20m.
Day 4: Depart at 0700 for Aer Borek at western edge of Dampier Straight. Dive with many manta rays at Manta Sandy. Guests can swim to the beach at Aer Borek. Return to safe mooring at Mansuar/Kri and dive at Yenfewi around 1500 or take a beach stroll and swim.
Day 5: Depart around 0600 and cruise for 3 hours to Fam and Penemu. Jetski and swimming in hidden lagoons, dive around 1100 in Mellisa's Garden. Dive again at 1500 at Keru's Channel, famous for limestone and many lagoons with clear water. Scuba diving lessons for beginners perhaps. Spectacular mooring but very deep water at 60 to 70 metres.
Day 6: After overnight cruise, arrive at Wayag in Northern Raja Ampat. Beautiful scenery so only one dive mid afternoon at Figure of 8. Beach swims and sailing most of the day. Depart around 2000 for Misool, southern Raja Ampat.
Day 7: After 12 hour overnight trip, arrive at Pulau Yilliet in southeast Misool. Dive Pulau Boo around 1000. Soft coral highlight of the trip. Again fantastic backdrops with many beaches close by to explore. Dive again at 1500 at Fiabachet Channel. One of the best dives in the area with stunning reef system. Arrange for pickup of fuel from Misool Eco Resort for jetskis and tender boats.
Day 8: Travel 2 hours to Wayil. Perfect anchorage with hidden beaches and lagoons. Cave swimming and channel dives. Dive around 1000 at Neptune Fansea and Wedding Cake around 1500.
Day 9: 2 hour cruise to Wagmab. Dive at 1000 and 1300. Explore the secret lagoon and snorkel around the limestone islands.
Day 10: Overnight trip to Cape Kri. Dive around 1000. One of Raja's famous sites with one of the world's highest fish counts. Dive sardine reef in afternoon. When currents are running, this dive has enormous numbers of fish including lots of sharks. One hour trip on the tender to visit the passage between Waigeo and Gam, a blue water mangrove system with rainforest on the ocean's edge.
Day 11: Visit Kri Eco Resort (can drop guests off here) and/or return to Waigeo for freshwater river expedition and jetski fun in the inlet canyons of the island. Stunning scenery with primary rainforest drooping into the seawater channels. 3 hour cruise returning to Sorong around 1400.
